I was born in Hersham in the late thirties, and attended local schools. After my marriage to Roy in 1960 we lived in Molesey where our daughter and son were born, and in 1983 we moved to Hinchley Wood.

I started my working career in the accounts department of a local electrical engineering company, and then I became a full time mother to our two children, following this I helped in the local nursery school. On returning to full time employment I worked at the Milk Marketing Board in the finance/auditing departments, and then as administration manager in sales and marketing. After closure of MMB (due to EEC legislation) I worked in the NHS until my retirement.

I was asked to stand as a local ward councillor for Hinchley Wood Residents Association in 1995. Since becoming a councillor I have served on all the main committees. In 2001- 2006 I was portfolio holder for Leisure and Culture, and consequently became very involved in the procurement of the new Elmbridge Leisure Centre (Excel), which I am delighted to say was built seven weeks ahead of schedule and on budget. During this time another project I was pleased to be involved with was development of the Countryside Park at Brooklands. Countryside spaces in Elmbridge are very important and I consider the Green Belt to be sacrosanct, consequently I was involved with English Nature in some tough negotiations with regard to the countryside strategy which involved regeneration of heath land and SSSI on how we should manage our commons for the next decade.

There have been many planning issues in Hinchley Wood since I became a councillor, and one of the most important was to overturn a planning application by the MacDonald fast food group, this was brought about by a local pressure group with support of the Hinchley Wood Councillors and HWRA.

Since my time as a councillor there have been many other pressures on land use in the area, including two new housing estates Lynwood/Woodfield Roads and Hinchley Park where we have tried to obtain the best results for our residents.

I strongly believe in the protection of our environment and. I am a keen advocate of recycling, composting, walking or cycling instead of using the car, and the economical use of all energy sources.

I am involved in the Elmbridge Healthy walks and cycle rides, which encourages people to exercise as a way of getting and keeping fit as well as being a pleasant social event.

I was privileged to be asked to be an ambassador for the Girl Guides which reminds me of the values that I gained as a Guide myself, also being a governor of Hinchley Wood Primary school, gives me the opportunity to keep in touch with the young people of today.

My personal interests are cycling, keeping fit and healthy, skiing, reading, interior decoration, sewing, travel, and spending time with my family.

I have a Councillors surgery, this usually takes place in the morning of the second Saturday of the month, please check our local HWRA notice board, visit the Hinchley Wood Residents Association website, or contact me on 020 8398 1565 for more details.
